We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative French Language Deputy Editor based in the UK to join our award-winning digital publishing company and help grow our audience in French-speaking markets in Europe. We produce engaging editorial across a variety of subjects including money, travel, and property. In this role, you’ll work closely with the French Language Editor to ensure the highest standards of quality, creativity, and reach.

 

What we’re looking for from you:

•  Fluency in French and an awareness of variations across Francophone markets;
•  Fast, accurate translation with flair from English into French, and the ability to localise content for French speakers in different countries;
•  A rigorous editorial approach with meticulous attention to detail;
•  The ability to balance speed and accuracy, delivering polished content to tight deadlines;
•  Strong news instinct and understanding of current affairs and popular culture in the French-speaking world;
•  Skill in writing engaging, accurate headlines in French and pairing them with eye-catching images;
•  Excellent time management and organisational skills to meet a busy schedule;
•  Knowledge of current media legislation, especially libel and copyright law;
•  A self-starting, motivated attitude and the ability to work in a busy and challenging environment;
•  Some experience in translation, localisation, or editorial work (ideally digital publishing);
•  A degree in languages, journalism, translation or a related field is desirable but not essential if you have equivalent experience.

 

The role will require you to perform the following tasks:

  • Translating and editing content to ensure it is clean and free of errors and compelling to read;
  • Uploading translations into CMS, changing images where appropriate and delivering to partners via feeds (training will be provided);
  • Keeping up-to-date records of translated content that has been sent and its performance (training will be provided);
  • Sending emails and other communication/liaison with partner editors as required;
  • Any other duties that might reasonably be required.

The role will predominately be home-based although will very occasionally (once a quarter maximum) require travel to London.

 

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary dependent on experience plus excellent benefits including 30 days’ annual leave.
