Picking the best beach in Sardinia is like picking the best The Lord of the Rings movie – they're all great – but Cala Goloritze is certainly up there with the best. It was created by a landslide in 1962 and has since been declared a National Monument for its dramatic beauty – particularly the 470-foot rocky pinnacle that soars above the sand.

Limestone cliffs hug the rest of the shoreline, and since the water is often as deep as it is clear, many beach-goers jump into the sea from them.
