The sunbaked, desert-laced state of New Mexico has its fair share of ghost towns, many of them scattered along historic Route 66. Highlights include Glenrio, which straddles the border with Texas and was once served by a busy railroad, plus Shakespeare (pictured), an old silver-mining town with an outlaw history.
