It's never too late to see the world, and now you could do it for free.

A quarter of Brits regret never taking a gap year, a survey by comparethemarket.com has revealed. In their study, which surveyed 2,000 Brits, people said they thought gap years were irresponsible, a waste of money or even that they were unheard of. As a response to this, the company has now launched its search for a retired travel addict to take an expenses-paid adventure of a lifetime.

The lucky retiree will receive the latest camera equipment and set out on a ‘senior gap year’ around the world, enjoying epic once-in-a-lifetime experiences in some of the world’s most incredible destinations. The winner will become the company’s ‘Senior Gap Year Advisor’ and will be tasked with taking pictures, videos and writing a monthly blog post, creating a fun relatable guide for future travellers.

To apply, entrants must submit a 200-word personal statement on why they’re the best person for the job by 12 February. Three successful candidates will then be shortlisted for a public vote and a winner will be announced in mid-March.
