A popular way to see the falls in the US is on the all-electric Maids of the Mist boat trip through the Niagara Gorge. Or, get right up to the water's edge at the base of the gorge on a stroll along the riverside boardwalk on the Canadian side. Usually open between May and October, it passes along the very edge of the falls' white water with several viewing platforms along the way.
