Our pick for the prettiest village in England is awarded to Clovelly. This picturesque spot features steep cobbled streets that tumble down the cliffside towards the sea, creating an amphitheatre in which a beautiful harbour is the star performer.

Clovelly’s steep gradient means the village is car free, and goods are transported the traditional way – on sledges. Explorers can walk the South West Coast Path for views of distant South Wales, or sample fresh seafood indicative of the area’s rich maritime heritage.
