Usually a regular holiday haunt of the rich and famous (and their superyachts), Portofino has turned from a traditional fishermen's village to a super-fashionable spot on the Italian Riviera. Dripping in old Italian glamour, the candy-coloured houses along the harbour have been turned into boutique hotels while the cobbled main square, the Piazzetta, is dotted with cafés and restaurants.

Backed by steep, verdant hills, Portofino is surrounded by many picturesque walking trails, snaking their way along the Ligurian coast.
