33. 25th Street, Ogden, Utah, USA

If sidewalks could talk, the ones on 25th Street in Ogden, Utah, would have a song to sing. Between 1869 and the early 1950s, the street was rife with gambling, narcotics, prostitution, robbery, and murder. So infamous was the place that notorious gangster Al Capone is alleged to have said it was "too wild" even for him.

Things are very different these days. Watched over by the historic Union Station sign at one end and idyllic mountain terrain at the other, Ogden's main street is now home to top restaurants, trendy pubs, and bars, lovely independent shops, and a thriving creative scene boasting must-visit art galleries.
