Renowned as one of Europe’s most beautiful national parks, the Lake District is famed for its rugged mountains, deep valleys, tranquil lakes and picturesque villages. Set amongst this stunning landscape, Castlerigg Stone Circle is one of the oldest and most impressive neolithic monuments in the UK.

Made up of 38 stones, the site is roughly 98 feet (30m) wide and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, with the peaks of Helvellyn and High Seat forming a dramatic backdrop. Their precise function is still not known, but the mystery adds to the charm of this magical place.
