Around 1,000 years of history lie within this incredible fortress in Warwickshire. Originally a Saxon fortification built to defend against a Danish invasion and later a motte and bailey castle – built on a mound and overlooking a courtyard – for William the Conqueror in 1068, Warwick Castle remains one of the most complete medieval fortresses in England.

Beautifully mirrored in the waters below and surrounded by 64 acres of gardens and grounds, it’s a dramatic sight.
