Oxford’s Natural History Museum has one of the world’s most important collections of Middle Jurassic dinosaurs. It features around 400,000 fossils dating from the Archean era (2.7 billion years ago) to the end of the Pleistocene (11,700 years ago).

The undisputed highlight of the collection is the Megalosaurus, which in 1824 became the world’s very first named dinosaur – although the term dinosaur wasn’t actually used until the 1840s.
