Just under an hour south of the urban sprawl of Sydney lies a pristine tranche of scrubby bushland and untouched coastline. Established in 1879, the Royal National Park is the oldest park in Australia and the second in the world. Keen bushwalkers go to take on the 16-mile Coast Track from Bundeena to Otford, which takes two days, but it can be walked in shorter bursts.

Highlights include Wattamolla Beach with its lagoon and swimming spot. Garie Beach is great for surfing, while Marley Beach has dunes and rock pools.
