Arranged neatly along the Kennebec River, Augusta is a quaint city away from coastal big hitters like Portland, Camden, and Rockland. You’ll wander by charming, Victorian-era buildings downtown; gaze up at the Capitol Building as you picnic in manicured Capitol Park; and feast on New England seafood at independent restaurants.

If you’re in need of fresh air, you can join locals along the Augusta Greeneway Trail.
