For starters, you must be a new homeowner, promise to build a property that's worth less than AUD$750,000, that's $482,000, and commit to living in Quilpie for at least six months. The grant will be paid out per new home, not to each applicant for the same home, and it applies to all township areas across Quilpie Shire; Adavale, Eromanga, Cheepie, Quilpie and Toompine.

The grant may also be available for relocated homes, which have been substantially renovated. According to The Guardian, the scheme has attracted attention both nationally and internationally, with more than 250 inquiries from as far afield as India and Hong Kong.
