Indigenous consultation was important when the Government of Canada set about establishing Thaidene Nene, since the area is a traditional and present-day fishing and hunting ground and also has spiritual significance.

The park’s management is shared between Parks Canada and Łutsël K’é Dene First Nation, Northwest Territory Métis Nation, Deninu Kųę First Nation and Yellowknives Dene First Nation, working collaboratively in the best interest of the land.
