Jerome would've been Arizona's largest ghost town if it wasn't for the artists who moved in when the mines closed in 1953. Dubbed the "wickedest town in the west," Jerome was home to saloons, opium dens, and a hospital, which is now the Jerome Grand Hotel (pictured). There have been reports of phantom footsteps, slamming doors, and floating objects.

Visitors who brave Jerome's spooky streets can join guided ghost tours, and in early October an annual ghost walk showcases supernatural storytelling and dramatic performances.
